"…VIEUX CARRE ranks with his finest, and surely his most candid works…a late new flowering of the author's genius." —NY Daily News.
Muddy Waters Theatre continues the season with one of America’s most significant contemporary playwrights, Tennessee Williams. MWTC has received four Kevin Kline (Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, and Best Ensemble) nominations for their past season’s critical success. Come join MWTC and Williams who has significantly contributed to American literature and cinema, "…the murmurings of genius…an authentic voice of the twentieth-century theatre." —NY Times.
The place is a rooming house in the French Quarter of New Orleans, the time the late Thirties. As narrated by The Writer (Luke Lindberg), a young man recently arrived from St. Louis, the action is concerned with interlocking lives of the various residents: a tubercular, painter (Kevin Beyer); a doomed young girl (Julie Layton) and her coarse lover (Jared Sanz-Agero); two aging "ladies" living in near poverty (Sally Eaton and Karen Wood); and the eccentric irrepressible landlady (Peggy Billo*). It is a play of echoes and remembrances, a series of engrossing scenes, sometimes brutally candid sometimes delicately poetic, which are woven together into a rich and revealing tapestry, glinting with theatricality and throbbing with the feel of life.
Tickets are $18.00 for adults and $15.00 for students and senior citizens.
